Being crafty again....a man apron this time!

This is a picture of a "man apron" that I made for my Dad Dan for Father's day. He had looked at a camo apron awhile back but my mom told him it was to much $ so I decided to craft one up for him. On the reverse side is a fishing theme which he is also into.

The close up : )
(once again this is from a pattern from my friend Cassie, thanks Cass!) Now, my boys all want one too! Looks like we have an activity to plan.

Flashback Friday

These are pictures from an awesome hike that Rick and I did. This was my gift to him for his Birthday. I didn't know what I was in for and it was sooooooooo stinkin' tough but super fun at the end. The whole hike took us about 8 hours. It was a major up hill climb with some very steep areas. I remember yelling at the mountain saying that I was going to win!!! Once we reached the top we had snow (Rick knew the top and back side would have snow, he had done this hike before).

So, we put on our snow pants and had to jump down a snow bank that was about 12 feet to the ledge. (That part was pretty scary!!) Then we slid down shoots on the backside of the mountain that we climbed up all day.
You can't tell how steep the ice/snow shoots are that we are sliding down very well in the pictures but imagine hiking uphill for 7 hours and how high you would be.......then sliding down......super steep......and super fast.
We met another couple on the way up. They were ready to turn back once at the top because it was so steep but we teamed up with them and had a lot of fun. Once at the bottom we all just looked up and couldn't believe what an awesome thing we had just done!
Rick said that I will never be able to top that B-day gift!

My handsome blue eyed boy!

Talon gives us a run for our money every day of our lives but he is also such a loving little boy. This kid is so full of energy and spunk! I joke that he is my true test in life and most days I feel like I am failing. I have learned much patience! I think he is always at least one step ahead of us as far as thinking goes. He loves to ask things in such a way that we get tricked! Here's an example. Most kids would say "can I have piece of licorice please" (then the answer would be yes or no, or even yes you may have a piece). Here's Talon "can I have 3 pieces of licorice please" so, the answer would be yes/no, or he is in hopes it will be that he will get two or three. See what I mean. He is a trickster : )

Each boy we have has a different color of eyes. He is our handsome blue eyed boy : )
We love him to bits!

Cute little Cowboy :)

Carter is just like his brothers. Sometime during the day they each end up sporting some new look. Yesterday Carter chose to be a Cowboy.
Ride 'em Cowboy!
This horse has been through all 3 boys. They have all loved riding it : )

How's the couponing/stock pile going?

I get asked all of the time how my couponing is working out and if I feel like it has been worth it. Well, the answer is YES, YES, YES!!!! It has been great. I love how much $ I save. I love having my own "store" in my basement. I love knowing that everything I buy is at the "rock bottom price". I have also been asked about how I store it all. So, here are some photos for you : )

Yep, I do love it all! It is a great feeling to spend $300 or less a month as apposed to $600 or more and not having much to show for it at the end of the month. I am a believer : )

What do we have here?

So, Rick decided he would make his first cake the other night. (any of you that don't know...he makes cookies, muffins, and brownies....a lot!! He does a great job making them) He asked for my help but I told him it would be much easier than making all of his other creations so he went for it. Well.........I should have helped my poor husband out!!!
Um....he baked a carrot cake. Well he tried anyway. He cooked it in a little square baking dish and it would not cook all the way through. Then the kids were inpatient because this was supposed to be our FHE treat so he decided to frost it early. Well....you know what happens then. : )
You can't tell from the picture to well but the middle of the cake was raw and sunken in. Oh my!

This is one of the pieces!
I guess he tried eh?
It tasted ok. Next time I will give him a hand.

Teacher gift

Keaton and I made a fun little apron for his teacher. (My friend Cassie gave me this cute pattern years ago) Keaton is so excited that it turned out so well. He kept saying "I think my teacher will think you bought this mom". He has loved his teacher this year and will miss being in her class next year. She reminds him so much of his Nana (my mom). They do look and act so much alike it is crazy.

Keaton sporting the apron we made. I look a bit scary right now since it is way past my bedtime so he got to be the model : )

The back has different fabric. Kinda fun : )
Then we made a little pouch thing a ma jig to hold some BBQ sauce, steak seasoning, and a couple of cards. Before Keaton went to bed he said "I can't wait until school so I can give this to my teacher, she is going to love it". How cute is that!
